Cyber Security and Compliance

Cytek Have you registered yet for Sam Munakl's webinar covering this networked world we live in and all its risks for the OMS office, what with PHI and HIPAA and hackers who are trying to trick unsuspecting employees into providing a back door into your office network? The webinar is Wednesday, June 20, at 11 AM CT. Members, click here to register.

About the Presenter

Sam Munakl holds a master’s degree in cybersecurity and has more than 13 years of experience in design, development and implementation of organizational information systems, software applications and IT support, security and infrastructure systems. He is passionate about IT security and has experience in areas including security strategy, cyber threat intelligence and vulnerability management, security operations, risk and compliance

Learning Objectives

  1. Define Cyber Security and the need for it’s immediate implementation in healthcare. Many healthcare providers, specifically in private practice, feel they are off the radar of attacks but they are mistaken and are most commonly find themselves victims.
  2. What is a risk assessment and why is it necessary? The outcome of the risk analysis is a critical factor in assessing whether an implementation specification or an equivalent measure is reasonably appropriate. The information gleaned from a risk analysis allows an organization to properly plan.
  3. Apply simple steps to protect themselves and their practice and patient data against cyber-attacks. New HIPAA Encryption requirements were introduced in the Final Omnibus Rule as well suitable policies for the security of patient health information when it is being sent, received, or stored.

Welcome

As administrators of busy oral surgery practices do you find that there are never enough hours in a day to complete every task or process every request made either by your staff or doctors?

We juggle our schedules and prioritize; we take and return many important calls, schedule and attend important meetings, make time to listen to our staffs’ and doctors’ concerns, update and implement important changes, etc.

Our responsibilities in running a successful OMS practice are endless. It is our responsibility as administrators/managers to make sure that every day runs smoothly, efficiently and harmoniously.

Join JAWS Society Today!

What a tremendous opportunity for networking with others who "know" exactly the pressures, problems and joys of helping to run an OMS office. It's quite affirming to be associated with an organization dedicated to just practice administrators.

Sherry Jenkins, Office Manager for Dr. Frederick Gustave

The relationships and learning experiences that I have had the privilege to share through the JAWS Society have been a key to my successful transition into OMS from a medical specialty, my ability to stay current as changes occur and my learning from the experiences of my colleagues

Ruth Whitehurst, Austin Oral Surgery

Everyone is just like me - serious about quality and committed to excellence.

Susan Strittmatter, Northern Texas Facial & Oral Surgery

A huge benefit of joining JAWS is having access to other practice managers around the country who encounter the same issues you do. We have a lively discussion of those issues and share our solutions to them in the JAWSSociety.org forums. It is strictly Members Only, so join today to get the support and knowledge of people just like you.
