2012 President's Message
Hello Fellow colleagues.
We are so pleased to start the new
year with a growing and enthusiastic membership as well as a
fantastic Annual Conference scheduled for April, 2012. Managing a
practice in today's challenging economic times can be a daunting
task. There are multiple demands placed on practice managers that
often seem like they can never be met. The JAWS Society strives to
be that one resource that is there to help and support managers
solve their daily problems and provide support during the
difficult times that always appear at our door. We would like to
provide all of you with an update for the past year.
The Board of Directors of the JAWS
Society worked on several projects in 2011:
- Revision of the organization's
By-Laws
- Member Survey to gather feedback
and input from our membership
- Increased membership to a total
of 116 members at the end of 2011
- Improved financial health
- Development of an
"Education Committee" which will work year-round to
develop relevant educational events and resources for JAWS
Society members
All of these projects could not
have been completed without the dedication and efforts of the
Board and all of the Committees. Member volunteers are the key to
our organization's terrific success. I feel so honored to be part
of an organization that has such spirit and desire to work with
each other and give their time to make goals be realized.
Our 2012 Annual Meeting in St.
Petersburg, FL will be an event that no Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgery manager will want to miss. We extended the event to 2 ½
days to allow more time for networking and to expend the
educational opportunities.
We plan to continue to provide
opportunities for all of you to share information and develop your
professional skills and knowledge.
We are working on improving the
website so that it is a resource that everyone accesses frequently
because it is THE source of up-to-date information in our
industry.
We still need volunteers to keep
the momentum going. We are specifically looking for help with the
Newsletter Committee which will work closely with the Education
Committee. Please contact me or any other Board Member for more
information. Remember, "many hands make a task light" -
Plus, with more members on a committee, it's a lot more fun as
well!!
I look forward to working with all
of you in 2012 to continue to grow our organization.
Respectfully Submitted,
Monique Corcoran, FACMPE
President, JAWS Society
